Why a goat?
Meet our goat Billy Bagot – he is our namesake. Not Billy of course, but Bagot.
The Bagot Goat, native to Great Britain is steeped in history as far back as the 12th century when Richard “the Lionheart”, King of England returned from the Crusades of the Holy Lands. It was on his trip back to England that the Lionheart supposedly salvaged a herd of black headed goats. The small goats didn’t receive their name until they were gifted to Sir John Bagot as a reward for plentiful hunting on his estate – and so the story goes.
